| Between Lake Mistassini, the Rupert
headwaters, and Lac Mesgouez, the Rupert divides into channels. Despite
Nastastan and Shipastouk being identified as rivers, they are channels of
the Rupert.
The archipelago is a challenge to navigate. As Bill Seeley reported in his logs of 1993: "The Cree at Mistissini (Baie du Poste) told me a tale of a German man who had gotten lost in among the islands and bays of the upper river the season before and nearly ran out of food before getting rescued." |
