Satellite image: ice freeze-up in Temagami, 2006

Posted December 5, 2006                                                                       Photo: NASA/NOAA

Infrared of

freeze-up

This infrared photo (a shift out of the traditional red band is more effective for viewing ice and snow) shows some smaller, shallower lakes frozen. Lake Temagami and the deeper lakes are open.

The upper basin of Lady Evelyn Lake (seen through clouds) is frozen, as is part of Diamond Lake, the southern end of Obabika Lake and the north arm of Rabbit Lake into Cassels.
