With a drop in the winds the big four open areas have shrunk and are mostly covered in skim ice, which is not visible in this image.

Devil's Bay still has open water. There was a patch of open water on the west side of Alexander Island (north of Cattle Island), according to John Kippen of Cayuga Island.

Black open water or thin, clear ice
Dull/ dark blue thin ice with little or no snow cover
Bright turquoise thick ice, snow-covered ice or snow on unforested land  (e.g. clearcuts, farmland)
