APRIL 6, 2010 Open water to Bear Island The Hub of Lake Temagami is opening. There is no ice between Bear Island and the Mine Landing or on the west side of Cattle Island. There is still solid ice around the top of the South Arm (bottom photo). Bob Farr reports that it is thick enough to prevent the TFN's airboat, while empty, from sinking through. It weighs 1500 kilograms.

He thinks, in this weather, it may take a couple of more days to clear. The water continues to be a couple of feet below normal. The high today reached 13 C. Satellite images are not available due to cloud cover. Lake Timiskaming is virtually free of ice.
