JUNE 10, 2015 UPDATED JULY 18 CANOEIST ADVISORY Downed trees on park portages, part 1 A winter icestorm brought down trees across portages throughout Lady Evelyn-Smoothwater Wilderness Park. Many upper sections of trees were knocked down during the winter, often so thick that bushwhacking around them is not always possible. Although some trails have been cleared by early-season travellers, expect travel to be slow. The Liskeard Lumber and Gamble Lake roads are usable. Everyone is encouraged to post experiences or clearance work on the forum. UPDATE: Keewaydin reports storm damage on the route between Anvil and Mendelssohn lakes. A forum thread also reports downed trees on the Solace-to-Sturgeon route.
