Break-up - winter ice impatient for spring rebirth The last ice, candled, lingering impatiently between Ogama and Cattle islands in the Hub of Lake Temagami on May 1. "This has been one of the longest break-ups in years," said Gerry Gooderham. Sometime on the evening on May 2 the winds came and pulverized it into oblivion, opening up the lake for a fresh season. Cattle Island is in the near background. Progressing open water can be seen as a black band in the background. |
