Break-up Watch 2015 - May 1

A dramatic change in just one day. Yesterday's image was all about finding the open water. Today's is about finding the remaining ice. What happened? Sun and 20 C happened. Nipissing is mostly ice-free. The Northeast and Southwest arms of Lake Temagami are opening. The lakes in the wilderness park are mostly ice covered, but they are starting. There is also ice on the usual last lakes: Temagami, Wanapitei, northern Timiskaming, Obabika, Rabbit, Lady Evelyn's lower basin and Anima Nipissing. |
