Pine pollen season 2018: June 21

Lake Temagami photos by Ron Miller

Pine pollen on Lake Temagami

As Miller called them, "rivers of pollen." It's an annual event when the trees seem to all agree to let go of their pollen in unison. Some years it can be so heavy that a sudden wind makes it seem like yellow rain. The top two photos are islands 568 and 537 in the Southwest Arm. The bottom two photos at Keewaydin in the North Arm.
