Freeze-up pace slows Freeze-up on the big lakes has actually reversed somewhater over the last ten days or so, slowing everything down. Some of the mid-sized lakes, like Gull, have open water, as can be seen in the bottom image. Water taxis are still running to Bear Island and the First Nation has not put its airboat into service.
