We hiked the Temagami Island trails in the freezing rain this weekend. Here are some pics https://www.facebook.com/media/set/?set=a.10151548 373138700.1073741825.307770433699&type=1&l=f8d77ce 06b Does anyone know if there's an accurate map of current trails there? Trail maps are really needed at some of the junctions... maybe I would volunteer to go put them up, but I don't have an accurate map. |

The Friends of Temagami has applied to the MNR for a permit to do some trail maintenance there this summer. This may be in cooperation with the TLA. We'll keep Ottertooth in the loop. |

That's great, trail maintenance is needed, such an important trail system. Brian, Mike Henry here. I put something like that map in the old growth book because I didn't have a chance to GPS the trails, but I'm pretty sure some of those loops are overgrown. Maybe I can update the map for the next reprint of the book. Really need "you are here" maps on the trails though. |

Temagami Island Old Growth Trails update: FoT members, with others including Nastawgan Trails and the TLA cleared out the Blue Trail last summer, near the end of July. This year we will be clearing out the remainder of the hiking trails, including the Red North Access Trail and the Yellow, White and Orange Trails, starting May 20th until the work is completed. We will be staying at the campsite on the NE corner of the island and using the East Dock to access the Yellow trail during the first week of effort. Lake residents are welcome to come over and help.

The most up to date map available, is from the Nastawgan Trails website here: (the Red South access Trail is not being re-opened)
