I'm trying to find out if Camp Chimo is still at Lake Temagami and if not, how long it has been gone. I was there in 1955 & 1956 ( when I was 11 & 12 years old ), and they are still the best vacations I ever took. The only reason we never went back was that my mother hated fishing...true story!! I was heartbroken!! Relatives of the founders of Camp Chimo have posted on this site previously....I would really like to hear from them!!

The Camp Chimo lodge you visited and operated by the Gooderhams closed in 1974.

Otter, where did you get that number?

Pastforward reference is to the former Camp Chimo on Chimo Island. The other might be someone's attempt to start a lodge called Camp Chimo. Not much detail.

Thanks Otter!! I called that number and actually reached a resident of the "new Camp Chimo". It no longer operates as a camp, but they saved most of the old buildings and cabins and have sold/are selling them as residences!! The gentleman I spoke with is Gary Keith...I told him I had quite a few home movies of Chimo from '55 & '56 which I could put on DVD for him...he was very anxious to see them.....( I could certainly send copies to whomever else might want them also!! ) He added that Jimmy Stewart & Lorne Green ( and other celebrities ) used to go there, and that there is a publication of the history of the camp available.

Toyman, you said that Gary Keith advised there is a publication of the history of Camp Chimo available. Are there any more details that would help someone get a copy ?
