Bill is living in North Bay and teaching English at Nipissing University. And I just spoke to him and he doesn't know what happened to the Ramona. Neither it nor any other former ONBL boat was part of Boatline Bay when he and the Reeders purchased the marina.

Brian: On reviewing some of my notes, I had determined that Shell Canada transferred the Ramona to Temagami Development Company in the late '60's.In 1966 Shell purchased the boats, docks, office-restaurant building and sheds from ONBL. They operated the boats for one season and then sold them to a new operator who continued for a year or two. I don't have any information about Temagami Development Company, but in 1967 a corporation by the name of Temagami Development Corporation Limited was incorporated. Quite possibly it is the same entity. A number of years ago the officers and directors of the corporation were listed as Charles,Georgette,Kenneth and Carol, all from Temagami.I assume these are the same Reeders referred to in your last post.

It certainly sounds like the same Reeders. However, I am surprised to see them connected to Boatline so early, since Charlie Reeder and Bill Plumstead didn't get involved until the 1970s or 80s when they bought it from Ron Johnstone and Bill Swift (who are both deceased). I am still doing homework on this. I spoke to Lockie Goddard, but he wasn't familiar with how things evolved.

Brian:Your information regarding Ron Johnstone and Bill Swift may be correct. Charles Reeder did not become an officer or director of the corporation until 1983. The same for Georgette. For Kenneth and Carol it was 1990 and 1992 respectively.

Joe Shaw used to own the Shell station sometime during the 70's and 80's. last I heard he was living in Aroura if you wanted to try to find him.

Bob, Joe would be worth talking to. Do you have something more than Aurora on him? Are any of the Shaws still on the lake related to him?

Jg, let me add to your notes from going over the story in the Temagami Centennial Booklet written by Ted Guppy:

1965: ONBL sold lines to Shell Oil Ltd. Shell changed name to Temagami Lake Boat Line.
1966: Shell operates boat lines for one season (as you wrote).
Shell leases boat lines to Ron Johnstone's Temagami Development Co. (and this may be late 1966, but it is not explicit).
It says that Johnstone continued to use the shop complex but constructed docks at Boat Line Bay. (This would have happened by the booklet's printing date of 1967.)

It is possible Johnstone and Swift had two companies. One for the lease and one for the operation on Boat Line Bay.

Here is a photo of Boat Line Bay circa 1969/70. One can see the Ramona in its "battleship grey" with the Wendigo behind it. In the full ( hastily taken ) picture the Cheeko is in front of the Ramona

Brian, I do not have any more info on Joe Shaw, but I will do some research on this end. I do not know if any of the Shaws on the lake are related. Joe Shaw had that magnificent log cottage built behind Bear island but he does not own it anymore.

I spoke to Bill & Niki Plumstead. They didn't take over Boatline until 1980. By then there were no old Boatline boats around and they don't know what might have happened to them.

Hi everyone,
I have some photos and limited knowledge of the Ramona which I'd like to share in the upcoming days -- if anyone is interested.
Here's the elegant beauty approaching our dock in 1966.
