Can someone please tell me which is the busiest most populated arm? North or South. I am coming back to Lake Temagami for the 2nd yea rin a row. I would like the most secluded area. Thanks to all! Happy 2010!!! Camper |

Obviously the northeast arm is the busiest as it is closest to town. Heading south is usually pretty good, or into Sharprock inlet (Northwest). Not too many motor boats head into KOKOKO bay which is fairly close to the hub, but gets real busy around august 7th as it is the meeting place at the end of Camp Wabun's season. Island Bay (north end of Southwest Arm) and Hammerhandle Bay (off of Whitefish Bay on the Northwest Arm are about as secluded as you can get without leaving the lake. If you are willing to leave the lake and take one portage, Olier lake is awesome. Good fishing and secluded. That's where I go when I want to leave the main lake but don't have a lot of time. It's a smaller lake with beautiful scenery and a nice campsite. It's not too terribly far from the Main hub of Lake Temagami. Head down Shiningwood Bay. Portage is only 400 meters or so. |

In my opinion heading north is more picturesque, less boat traffic and has nicer campsites. There are however large open areas so wind can be a problem. Heading into Kokoko Bay is close to the access, can help avoid a north wind and is pretty near as secluded as the lake gets. |

I've only been on the N end, from Sandy to Diamond, but if that's the quiet end I'd hate to see the loud end. Not that it was very noisy or disturbing, but over 3 days we were never out of sight of a motor boat. Out of curiosity, why L. Temagami? You could get into the Canton Lakes easy and avoid the motor boats & big water. |

I don't think anyone should be under the illusion that motorboats can be avoided, either by sight or sound, in July and August anywhere on Lake Temagami. |
