I have seen and heard that travel is very dicey up the lake in the area of Sand point and Rabbit nose! Can you please tell me is there any safe travel up and down the NE arm from town to the hub? Is it being travelled at all and if so any guesses on ice thickness?? thx |

There has been travel to the Hub Via the NE Arm. Skull Narrows is marginal ice 2-4 inches. Rule of thumb out there is don't trust anything you haven't checked for yourself. Any travel should be done at SPEED from shore to shore and stay within safe shore distances. |

Any word on the conditions going up the NE arm from the hub? We are hoping to come for the family day weekend. |

I know GM construction has checked the ice from B.I up to Keewaydin with those results. That is what I forwarded my info from. I am sure it would not be a problem to take a vehicle from the hub to town now. Back lakes should be in much the same condition. |

Well I drilled a few hundred holes in the last week..as did the three guys with me... nothing under 18 inches on Temagami that we found including Devil Bay and Granny bay. Many places 20 to 22 inches thick. Trucks driving to the Rabbit Nose bluffs and RNose Island. There is a pretty good pressure crack off the tip of Rabbit nose right across to the bluffs though.. so if you are going to drive it.. be sure that you are on the West side of Rabbit nose Island on the way through there... Snow is getting to be about 6 or 7 inches deep from the ice road over to the North Arm.. then it's pretty much wind blown down the center of the North Arm.. or 6 inches or less of snow. |
