I am hoping that after the winds we have had the last couple of days that the ice is pretty well gone |

My parent got in to the hub easily last night. They said only ice on shorelines....but wide open water the whole way. |

I looked at the sat photo from yesterday, and I can't see ice anywhere on the lake. I would post it if I knew how! |

Yahoo! Judging by the looks of the satelite photos from today and yesterday , I would assume that it's safe to say that the ice is out, but we have not heard any official word from Mr. Toogood |

I tried to reach the Head Honcho yesterday but got an automated response that he is "out of the office" for a few days. So sit tight and I suspect we'll receive an update by the end of the week. |

I was out in my canoe for a week, but for some reason my WiFi didn't work from Ishpatina. The ice went out on Lake Temagami on April 15. http://www.ottertooth.com/Temagami/News/10/sat10-2 1.htm But it has still been going down to freezing at night. Saturday it snowed. On some portages I was walking through leftover patches of winter snow.

This is a really screwed up year.I have managed to make ice-out for the past 10 years in the Temagami Area. Some years, I have been hanging around waiting. This year I could have been out there on Kukagami on April 4th. Well I was on Kukagami on April 6th... but not in my canoe. Unfortunately I have to hang around until next week. And you were already out there paddling about. The sky is surely falling. |

I used to be able to set my calendar by your trips, Ed. Now you've thrown my planning into a muddle. Funny thing, when I was out there, I was thinking of you. While it was snowing, I kept seeing your beard all iced-over. And you were ecstatic. |

Well I have my beard trimmed short , so I will not have any snow collecting in it, this next month. And the way the weather is, there will likely not be any snow in Temagami or points north this Spring trip.I was out with my dog this afternoon on the Guelph trails and the Spring flowers are out... Marigolds in the creeks, Trilliums in the bush and various lillies are all out in bloom. Normally these don't appear for about another 2-3 weeks. |
