Does anyone have any useful information about how the oil spill might affect Temagami loons in future years? Do the Temagami loons winter in the Gulf of Mexico? Thanks.

It will affect all ecosystems from the north pole to the south. It's dead center of many migratory routes.

"Ocean Factory Fresh"
Ocean fresh, 'twas once, clear & blue,
Crystal sand so white, so pure.
Dolphins used to play here & ther,
"Turtles" used to swim roundbout day & night,
Get stuck in bottle rings, what a fight.
Ther be no-way to descibe 'tis here place now,
Make me wanna cry.
Hidden beneath it's 1 big garbage waste dump.
Toxic waste oil spill sluge & all,
Wher Sundowns, way-down-under, now show ther spew, top water oil shine.
Fish line + plastic bags still killen.
We can all change what lies beneath.
No more whalen,
No more sleep,
Until we all do sunthin to change tha big salt deep back to, tha way it once 'twas.
So once agin tha oceans wood be so pure,
Leave it clean fer all tha "Rainbow of Life Under Tha Sea" to endure.

ann,
Tha "Table of Ocean Creatures",
invertebrates, fish, mammals, plants & such
all taken-in a chance to respond to ther changed envirenment now.
All ocean life shine in clear blue waters.
I wanna dedicate 'tis poem to "Painted Turtle"
Who surfs these waters on his long board.
I planned on go-en back, skin diven, down Florida way in tha deep blue but now?
I'll give a helpen hand instead, Heya!

Common loons do winter in Gulf estuaries. Who knows it they are Temagami snowbirds?

I live on Pensacola Bay and saw a tardy one in full summer plummage still hanging around just this morning. It looked beautiful. I sure hope it and the rest of the living creatures around here aren't screwed for years to come.

I have seen a flyway map for loons once and the Ontario ones do an incredible journey..western Ontario goes to the Gulf of Mexico and eastern down the Atlantic Coast starting in southern New England.
Our lazy ones fly 30 km to Casco Bay. Thats why they can be so fat and big.

I have found the common winter loon in the Everglades and New Orleans.

Hopefully they have all left for now and escaped the spill

"America's Sea/or America's Sewer"

Harmed, damaged & now marred is turnen into tha Dead Sea. We done evil out of oil hunger.
"Mom's Earth" 'tis be-en ravaged & more creatures R dyen in as we speak.
Animals, winged 1's + those that swim will soon be disappearen & then what.
Tha other day in SW Florida a Bald Eagle crashed into tha Gulf 200 yards off shore & eventually made it's way to tha beach. Authorities took it to a nearby veterinarian. Don't no it's out-come.
All I no it's go-en to be catastrophic.
I do no that Michigan's 300 pairs of common loons winters & wolf howls on tha Atlantic Coast, as well as, tha Gulf of Mexico. They may hav dodged tha magic bullet, 'tis here time round.
Passkey code to our stayen alive, in existence, & managen to live thru all this is to be friendly/or kind to nature on "Mom's Earth".
We all need to scout ahead & find right path to heal "Mum's" from Her ill-fated dead reckonen, dead march. Ther be a natural trail sumwher out ther, that wood return "Mum" to Her natural healthy state, once agin.

ann,
me & Renee walk tha talk.
We just don't talk bout rescuen wild-1's.
We do sumthin bout it, most every day of our lives. Both reared-UP that way.
We welcome + feed all wild types at our doorstep, in harmony.
We're committed + donate damn near 20% of our earnens to multiple animal & environmental causes.
We take snapshots from our campaigns of wildthins to show tha unkind, to help educate & change ther mindsets.
We're embattled on many fronts fer animal rights.
I'll hav sum fight TV time comen soon & will howl-out to that potato eaten pig farmer, Butcher Otter, out of Idaho, who put endangered timber wolves on death row. Plan on callen him out soon! Ain't done with him yet.
We also take care of our our pets.
At 1 time had 4 cats. 3 weeks ago to tha day, our "Baby Tee" died at age 20. Cudles died at age 17 & Walley lived to 16 years of age after be-en shot 3 times by a 22 rim fire bullet when He was just a kitten. Jordan, last 1 standen, is now 12, 7 all alone.
I hav a ring tail dove that is almost 20 years old. She spends more than half Her life outside in a cage. Must be do-en sumthin right, so far.
Tha Weather Channel listed bout 10 sites to help tha "Gulf Cause".
Ther's a Gulf Restoration Net Work fund,
united fer a healthy "Gulf of Mexico,
be worth looken into.
Not very religious, even tho 'twas schooled by Carmelites, but may now be time to talk to Higher Authority to seek help fer quick fix to contaminate mix.
Saint Francis of Assisi, Patron Saint of animals, as well as, tha environment.
His devoted love fer tha wild free & ther well be-en.
Tha duty of men 'tis to protect & enjoy nature as both stewards of God's creatures as creatures ourselves.
Just maybe, 'tis time to pray, Heya!
