Doug Adams, who posted the report to the Nugget, told me an Ohio couple vacationing in Kipawa Que. decided to visit Temagami for the day. Instead of flying over the Petro-Can service station in a westerly direction to land on the lake, turning around and and come back to the dock, they decided to land in an easterly direct, couldn't get slowed down in time and collided with the dock.....no serious injuries, just a wrinkled plane. |

We were passing through Temagami a few hours after the crash and were impressed with the emergency response and the containment using a boom and skimmer. Bystanders at the scene said there had been a torrential rain storm at the time,(strong enough to knock out Visa/debit services at the restaurant) and the pilot, from Pennsylvania, hit the channel marker, bounced up and collided with the dock. The front of the plane was heavily damaged and one wing was submerged. Another bystander said they had heard sounds of engine trouble just before the crash. The couple reportedly emerged from the wreck on their own, with no injuries. |

MCTV in Sudbury showed some cell phone video of the plane just prior to the crash on their 6 o'clock news on the day of the crash. Does anyone know of a way to get a look at that video? |
