Go in, buy a drink and ask her about it....to cut out any speculation. Maybe when I see here next I'll ask...she lives on the opposite end of our Island. |

Touche Kim ! I say let it be. It's just a name and not intenional. Why nowadays, does everyone have to find fault with everything they see and read. There are good people in the world still. I doubt the lady keeps close tabs on the news, I know I don't. She probablly wouldn't have a clue as to what the point is your trying to make. So griping about, I think, is a waste of time. I'm sure she is sorry for any inconveinces this might have caused anyone, and if it was my sign I'd leave it as it is anyways.} |

The war in Iraq is not what the phrase "shock and awe" would bring to mind to me up in Temagami; rather, if anything, it would bring to mind the feeling that I had the first time I saw a two hundred foot tall pine tree that was at least five feet in diametre. Perhaps it might make me remember of sitting in my campsite looking across the lake at Spirit Rock and the spectacular cliffs behind it. One of the reasons that I enjoy canoeing is to get away from it all... including politics. I don't really expect to find someones personal views on the war in Iraq in a discussion forum about such a magical place as Temagami. This is an opportunity to discuss topics of mutual interest... canoeing, Temagami, nature, to name but a few. The current conflicts in Iraq, Afghanistan, and many other places around the world are not likely to be topics on which there is general agreement, so perhaps they are topics best avoided here. So... how's the food at the Shock'n Awe; any good? Do they serve food there, or is it just rooms? Perhaps I will have to stop in for lunch when I head up there in a couple of weeks. |

Good point ca_Shannon. This is a Canoeing in Temagami Thread but someone brought up the topic of the name to see if anyone was offended by it. So maybe should have ended right there. I'm not offended by the name by the way, but there is no "getting around" the fact that the name will generate discussion. |

Hiya ca_Shannon. The food at the Shock and Awe is very good. I have eaten there three times and they have a pretty good menu, from nacho supreme to a roastbeef dinner. They also have sm, med, and lg pizza...the large only cost 5$. You should definately make it a point to stop in next time your in Temagami...It's worth it! } |
