I lose and find myself in the long water. I am gathered together once more... (Theodore Roethke) Ottertooth is like a breath of wonderful pine air to sooth my soul when I need to touch base with the North Country. Thanks to brothers Kim and Brian for keeping this site going... and for all the rest of you out there who love God's grand oasis northern style New year's blessings! |

Happy New Year from foggy, humid Florida. Our bay is full of loons hardly recognizable in their winter grey plumage and largely silent. Thank you Brian for the great site.

Hey Bill, New years off to bad start fer 13 of yer old West Virgina Country men, who's backs to wall, a mile down under, them ther hills. Owner operater of a gas & goods station years back, wher I even sold lots of lake canoes. Had alot of coal miners as good pals & customers that hung round fer years. Must of them passed on from lung complications. All had chronic back + knee problems from be-en bent over on tha job fer hours on end. Even had a Hatfield from Beckly West Virgina venture thru 1 time. He said that ther still sum bad feelens towards tha McCoys. Was that explosion any near yer old hill home Bill? Worken underground, tunnelen fer minerals of coal, iron, salt/or gold is not fer tha faint of heart, fer sur. To dig fer ore & such be in-born, handed down from fathers to sons, fer generations to come. Taken-in all that gas on'slaught + dampness into yer lungs on a daily basis be mine-bogglen. To do that dirty hazard job, 1 wood hav to hav a different mine-set to work in a hell haze habitat like that. Turtles woodn't even prod to those depths. Only fer "real men & heros" be able to toil slave labor with underfoot in tha grave. Life & death underminen! I pray fer safe recovery fer all, Heya!
