Does anyone have John Salo's email address? I can get it from Diane Jenner in North Bay if necessary. My reason for this request is that I was under the impression that the Parks and the Ministry were monitoring our discussions for important input. They may not have been doing this and that is their mistake. Letters are letters but day to day discussions among ourselves are far more important. I just wanted to make him aware of the importance of reading our conversations. They concern the guts of all the issues. The LUP topic is pretty well worn out now. What I had origionaly thought was if I presented the topic in such a manner that would disasociate it from the predominant problems of the area it might just give me a positive response on the part of the Ministry. As in math, two negatives equal a positive. I want to thank everyone on the forum for not merely throwing my views aside in what I might describve as "self interests".I havent had to think as hard as I have in the past month for many years. It has been a challenge and at the same time a lot of fun. This is what keeps the youth in a old man.Later, Mike |

Mike I think Ontario Parks needs direct input. They may or may not monitor this site. Seems like it would be a good idea, I agree, but the only way to find out is to ask John I guess... Why not give him a call?

They didn't even take minutes/record any input etc at the TIP meetings. Why would you think they are monitoring this forum..let alone not already have their planning direction cut in stone. |

Human nature is why they might monitor this forum. Officially,no, I don't think they do either. But unofficially it would be no surprise would it? If I was in Temagami working for parks I'd monitor this forum for sure...wouldn;t you? Who else talks about parks, backcountry and canoeing in Temagami on the net? Some aspects of the planning may be cut in stone to some extent...but others not? Still, whether MNR people monitor the forum or not, they would still require formal input even if the same topics are discussed here. I doubt if they could use any info on this forum as "input" to the planning process unless it was delivered to them as "input". So yes, I agree with you that MNR is not going to make any decisions based on this forum. Whether they look at the forum or not though is another subject. |

I'm not sure how the other meetings worked but, at the Toronto TIP meeting Rick Calhoun (MNR District Planner - North Bay) was definately taking some notes both during the presentations and afterward during the Q & A. |

They use the notes for defining issues. http://www.ottertooth.com/Temagami/News/newsbriefs -051.htm#ja26

I agree with everyone that direct input is the best way to go however I think it would be to everyones adavantage if the MNR monitored the site ,especially if we get one forum set up to polarize the issues as Brian said can be done. In the letter I am comprising this subject will also be included and I am also going to call John Salo to reinforce this idea. Always remember,"PASSIVE KNOWLEDGE CAN BE A POWERFUL TOOL IN THE REALM OF COMMUNICATION". My personal belief is that we are now starting to establish an organized sense of direction, especially with the idea of a forum dedicated directly to the issues. Mike |

Thanks for posting that link Tim. I wonder what they will want to charge us to paddle up this proposed new park or camp in it?
