While everybody is anxiously waiting for the ice to go, I thought you might enjoy this old photo of the Niad arriving at the original Camp Temagami in the early 60's |

I think I was on that boat back in the early sixties as well. Our group took it to North Woods Cleveland YMCA camp. Do you remember it being quite slow - the first time I thought we'd never get to camp. We took another boat back at the end of camp that had a galley in it, was larger, was white and it was much faster - I have been curious which boats - but your picture and the name Niad has jogged my memory. I tryed to figure this all out, but the picture and articles Brian has posted on the website just have not seemed to match my memory. I'm very happy you posted this. |

This was an Eaton family yacht, I believe, before coming to Temagami. The bow cannon is at the steamboat museum in Muskoka. |

Bob, When were the picture of the Aubrey Cousins taken. It looks strikingly like the second boat we traveled on. I went first to Temagami in either 1960 or 1961 and the Aubrey looks awfully familiar to my foggy mind. RAM |

I don't know the exact year but approximately anywhere from 1958 to 1964. I'm glad you're enjoying the pictures. Those were the best days of my life growing up as a child, carefree , every summer at camp , going on canoe trips and hardly ever seeing a soul while out on trip. I don't think I ever did ride in any of these old boats. |
