Coming up to Lake Temagami to fish for lakers on May21st. Dont usually come up in the Spring so I am looking for some advice on hotspots this time of year and any bait advice etc. Usually we jig and use downriggers for lakers with shiners as bait if available. Any thoughts? |

Wrong forum for fishing tips generally. Most of the canoers that post here don't seem to rely on it to much as a food source. Join ofncommunity.com/forums if you want to learn the ins and outs of fishing. That said.. lakers are still in shallow at opener. I find lots in 30 to 40 FOW swimming in the top 20 feet or so. Flat line trolling spoons running 8 or 9 feet down seem to work well for us. No need for the hassles or chance of invasive species spread that comes with using live bait. |
