Has anyone recently accessed Obabika at the Goulard Road Gate? Wondering what the status of the road is this year and if there are recent issues. The last posts on this appear to be from 2004.} |

The road leading to the Goulard Gate from Emerald Lake is not getting any better. It is definately better suited for trucks and vehicles with more ground clearance. That said many choose to access here using the Obabika~Wawiagama portage (which is a few hundred meters behind the gate) and I have seen all types of cars parked.

Thanks alscool! I am using a pick-up so clearance is good. We are doing a quick trip (4 days) and want to hike the Old Growth forest trail. I haven't been up that road since 1993 so I know the routine. Last time I took a brand new van... ooops! I guess I can expect the same conditions. |
