Ditto, "Happy Birthday" Brian, and yes, this forum has been, and continues to be, a god sent to us in our search for Daniel. Enjoy! |

I can't believe you ask how old I am. My wife is always reminding me. Do I need more? Aging means less time left to canoe.

Yeah, young pup. I do triple trips on the portages (one with a 90-lb wannigan), and still paddle and carry my own 18-foot, close-ribbed Chestnut Prospector! |

Anyone who knows Brian, also knows that he is an ultra, ultra ,ultra - lite tripper who has everything down to a few grams. Brian's trips are planned down to the minute, he sleeps in a hammock, drinks freeze dried coffee, uses a Jet Boil to keep the fuel load down, swims in the nude so he doesn't have to carry a bathing suit, cuts the handle off his toothbrush, etc. etc. It is not likely you will ever see him carrying a 90# Wannigan, nor an 80# canoe. Maybe 40 years ago.....when he was a young pup. You should never put your birthdate up on Facebook. It just causes problems. I hope you enjoyed your birthday Brian. |

Asking your age was rude on my part, sorry. But carrying a wood canoe and a #90 wannigan - you still got it! And your birthday means Spring can't be far off. |

I, too, was having a little fun with my birthday. No offense, at all. Now about that Ambroid. I remember an old-timer, when I was just starting out as a canoe guide, who told me that he used Ambroid for everything (probably the Duct tape or WD40 or Vaseline of its day), including a chew of a dried hunk after a long portage. Said it kept him healthy and young. I wanted to ask him if it had something to do with the fact that he had no teeth. But I didn't. (Yes, I still have mine, but no I don't chew.) |

As young as a spring breeze and as old as the hills! Many happy returns of the day. |

Please excuse the belated birthday wishes....but remember: On age: “For an old man, a canoe is ideal; he need only sit and move his arms.” – E.B.White Not to imply you're old LOL LOL.... |
