I spotted a large animal swimming across Net Lake last week. It was a female Lynx. It was followed by a kitten that swam up beside the boat as comfortable as a duck in water.

At first I only saw the big cat and she was swimming as fast as a Labrador retriever after ducks. . Head held high, ears erect. I was so focused on her that I did not see the kitten. Mom probably heard us coming and booked it for shore leaving the little one to fend for itself. We watched the kitten calmly dog paddle after Mom. It looked very comforable in the water. It's fur was not matted down which seemed to help with bouyancy.
