Has anyone been through the Red Squirrel Rd recently? What condition is it in all the way to Sandy Inlet? Approx how long a canoe ride would it be from the south access road point on Lake Temagami to the northern end - are we talking about 5 hours? 10 hours? Does one need a permit to camp on Lake Temagami or any other place outside the provincial park boundaries? Thanks. |

Oh, forgot another question.... How good is cell-phone reception generally on Lake Temagami, if at all? Now, before people start to lecture me on the impurity of having any electronic device in the wilderness, let me just say I have very good reason to want this access, and it has nothing to do with getting the latest stock quotes or anything like that, otherwise, I would agree whole-heartedly. Thanks. (Message edited by amigo on July 8, 2007) |

I was there in the spriing. The RSR is in good condition except for a couple of washouts which are easily managable even in a car. The trick was to slow down when you see them so you don't wipe out your front end. The were marked by somebody with flaggin tape and/or a stick in the ground. The road from camp Wanapitei to Sandy Inlet is another story. 4WD and good ground clearance is a must to get to the parking lot. Still doable but a much longer walk to get to the water. |

Cell phone works most anywhere on the NEast Arm and in the Hub. Haven't tried calling in a "postion report" to the better half from the end of the North Arms yet. |

No cell service north of the hub, except maybe at some of the high points. |
