As I see in the Aug. 16th Sudbury Star The young pair who failed to put the fire out that burnt 590 ha and most of Halway lake PP at a cost of $1.1 mil were fined a total of $1200 bucks, nearly nothing compared to the millions of $ it cost, life sthreatened and holidays, etc wrecked. I will leave you to that. |

I agree with you that the fine is a pittance compared to the damage and loss suffered. But you could take away their car, canoe, house, bank accounts and you still could not replace the 590 ha of forest. It's so frustrating. |

Hey, they can take everything for taking fish out of season, now for racing , why not reckless behaviour.....maybe people would douse their fires. We arrive on a site Aug 7th...fir pit still had warm coals....all it takes is the right wind....It could be lives too not only trees & wildlife. How long does it take for a forest to recover? Isnt there a spot in West Temag that burned in the 40's....still scarred? Paul |
