I am going to Finlayson Point this week. How does it rate as a car/camping facility? My particular site is rated good, but I noticed when booking on-line, many sites were poorly rated. I've been to Algonquin car/camping many times.

Since I do not know the site you are booked for I can not comment. When you get there drive through and you can always change your site to another that you may perfer better than the one you booked. Some site are good, some are great and some are not so good. It depends on you and the equipment you are going to use when there, i.e; tent camper or RV.
The park is great depending on your expectations.
Many sites to see on the lake and in the surounding area.

I'm on site number 29, in the non-electrical area. It looks good.

I stayed there a couple years ago on 14, listed as 'busy' but it was a great site. Finlayson is not bad to start out from but you'll need a boat to see the lake....about 45 mins to the center of Temagami. I did see some guys pull in some 5-6lb bass right out of the bay there.MNR sat in the parking lot to see the catch coming in so make sure you are aware of the slot sizes if you are fishing. One thing about the lake facing site you should be ready for is the runway for the airport goes between the park and the island at the narrows...first flight is 7:00am, if youre not awake yet, you will be! Kids loved it though...could see the pilot from the site....nice spot to sit on the rock & have breakfast.Make sure you climb the tower in town...awesome lookout! If you can afford $60 each or so you can take a quick flight around the area in a beaver(bush plane)....also well worth the money

Sorry missed the post, with no internet at the lake. We live right across from the park all summer....where the green/white airplane is on the air lift. Lots of nice sites in the park...hope you had a good vacation.
..........
Darren is actually good and tries to make first flight at 8am in JKT and his chug chug chug warm up past my dock is my alarm clock...it's that Damn blue/white C185..sometimes as early as 6:50..that I'd like to take out with an M1 and heck...I'm a pilot. No need for it that early and he could taxi out to the main lake if he really needs to get somewhere that early.
