Hi All - I am interested in trying to track down the Nanetter - dead or alive. I agree from "BOB's" postings (Back in 2005) that it was sold in 74/75 for $500 to a LCBO Inspector in North Bay, but am unsure what happended after that. I believe he resold it and it was junked, but would love definitive answer. I do have old photos (can not post now due to computer issues) but will pass on when new computer arrives. Growing up I rode in the Nanette from 1961-1972 with my grandfather, Bill Russell, who took care of it for Doug Gardner at Camp Temagami. Any info would be appreciated.

Wow. Great memories of Bill Russell and the Nannete from my years at Camp Temagami in the late sixties through 1970. I had one picture of the Nanaette which was almost completely destroyed in a small flood. Only a shadow of the image- the boat docked at the camp. On another thread there is a suggestions that the Nannette still lives on another lake.

My Gandparents had two islands- 1097 and 1098- I believe a little north of Bear Island. If anyone happens to have any pics I would be thrilled to see them. A long shot I know, but....

I was amazed to discover that Camp Temagami guides Gordon Deeks and Hugh Stewart (I remember them both) were (are) involved with the "new" Camp Temagami.

Hi jesplusone. My sister-in-law now owns those islands. I'm sure she would be happy to have you drop in if you are in Temagami while she is there. (I remember your grandparents. Even their house on Temagami CR. in Mississauga.)

Wow! Thank you so much for your post. Amazing what this internet thing can do.

My grandmother passed away in 2001 (age 91.) My grandfather will be 101 in a few days, living in Arizona. He has often said that his happiest moments were on those islands (and Goodyear's Camp Pinto.) If you or your sister-in-law had any pictures you could share he would be thrilled to get them. If she wants some old pictures, I will see what might be available.

I was there a number of times to help open the cottages in early summer and for overnights when I was at Camp Temagami.

Thanks again.

Here is a photo of Bill Russell and the Nanette. I have the photo in better resolution if anyone wants it. Give me your direct email as the website limits the resolution of uploads.

isle1005:

Please send the picture to me at jesplusone@zoomtown.com. As I mentioned before, I was a camper there from 1967 to 1970 and was a passenger in the Nannette quite often. Thank you for sharing your pictures and memories.

Ann: Of course I knew your Dad. Is he living? Various members of my family went to camp Temagami as early as the 1940s. This thread brings back many happy memories.

In the early 1960's the ONBL (Ontario Northland Boatlines) sent the Naiad daily to the South Arm. I looked forward to pulling in to Camp Temagami because Bill Russell and Mr. Cochrane were two of the friendliest people around. Camp T was a thriving outfit under their leadership in those days. Two fine gentlemen.

Dear isl 1005 I would very much like to receive the photo of Bill and the Nanette. He would stop by often for gas at Chimo. A swell guy. Thanks for this.

Dear Bowsprit
Mr Cochrane was not around in the 1960's at Camp Temagami. The person you are probably referring to was Doug Gardner who was the owner/director
