I understand everyone is travelling where ever they choose. Light snow cover and good ice. Stay away from current and back sides of islands with same and you should be fine. I'll be up there and all over the NE arm on Thursday.. home Monday night late..will let you know what I find. |

All Good....All Good.. People are driving to various parts of the lake with their vehicle.. However the wind and recent snow make is impassable for the civics.. Take Care...Cheers |

hi guys ..im wondering if the ice in temagami is ok..i heard that in north bay some sledders went through the ice..this has me and my buddies concerned...is there any reason for us to worry this year..we usually take the same routs and dont venture of course too much and of course we stay away from creeks and rivers...how is the ice? |

Some pickups have been from Bear Island to Temagami by ice all the way down the NE arm. I believe someone may have gone up to Rabbit Nose on Sunday. The band has the 5 ton plow on the ice road, and is keeping the road nice and wide, and in good shape. The snow is getting a bit deeper for trucks, but not too bad yet. The high winds we had a couple weeks ago has made the ice rather bumpy. I am sticking to the Mine Road only on account of it being a little rough on the lake. (imagine that). It would be a good idea to carry a map of the lake if you use your vehicle in order to avoid places you may questions over. It has been hitting -30's at night and is suppose to be cool right into the weekend. I know there is now over 2 feet of ice at my hut. If you fish from any ice road punch your holes away from the road. Holes on the road is a no no. |

Be sure to read the new regs. Slot for 'eyes everywhere in the "new" Zone 11. What do you do when all those slot fish blow their bladder in 70FOW coming up? |

we use light line and we try to bring all fish up slowly..we are also careful with handling all fish and we put back many fish even 5-7 pound trout..our rule is to keep 1 fish per person for the day and we have 2 fish every morning with our breakfast...we hate freezing fish we like to catch and eat them while their fresh we never bring fish home...so bladder problem not that much of an issue...but it does happen occasionally and what can u do...we actually fish deeper for lake trout and whitefish..we cant help if walleye bite our lines but we do try to bring all our fish up slowly ...most of the time the slot size is ok..im not sure about changes to slot size this year for region 11 but i will have a look.... |

irish... you bring up a great point ..what should someone do if they catch a fish in the slot size and burst the fishes bladder..if you put fish back then it wont make it...but what about if you keep the fish what then |

You have no choice.. dead or alive.. it goes back down the hole to be turtle food. Otherwise you pay the fine.. get a record! Lakers burp... pickeral don't. Slot is 16.9 to 24 inches on all lakes in Zone 11.. except for Lake Temagami proper which is still at 18 to 24 inches which is apparently increasing fishing pressure on the lake which is the exact opposite that was supposed to happen. You'd get a lot more idea/response to how to handle these fish if you posted on OFNC.. I see you registered...use the resource! |

One post a day.. you can make a thousand if you want. There is no limit..and check the FAQ section on how to post pictures there. As for Lake T ice conditions... I can tell you as of this morning... you ain't goin anywhere off the ice road unless you have a REALLY good LONG track sled. There was about 14 inches of fluffy snow on the ice on Thursday when I arrived. Easy driving in my 4x4 F150 with ATV in the box and pulling a double sled trailer with two sleds and a lot of gear... right to my cottage. Then Saturday it was -31C.. lost the bottom tip of my left ear lobe to frost bite. Yesterday it started snowing heavy and then changed to rain about 2pm.. rained ALL night. Now there is about 8 inches of heavy slush on the entire lake. |

thanks irish..at least there is lots of ice and maybe with less snow the slush will freeze up again with cold temps..as long as there is lots of ice then i wont worry...plus got me a brand new sled long track would like to try it out in the slush...but i would hate to get stuck |
