With young kids you could try going down to Cross Lake and then back through Cross Bay. Would give yourself three days (at least) for that with kids. If you are doing 2 days with young kids I would just pick a campsite on Temagami and paddle to it and back the next day. If you do that I would choose a site in one of the many secluded bays on the lake. (Kokoko, Spawning) If you wanted a short trip that includes a short portaging experience you could go down the South Arm and spend the night, then take the short portage into Portage bay and back to your car the next day.
