I'm looking for the exact location of the Kokomis-shomis, aka Grandmother and Grandfather Rocks, on Obabika Lake. I know how to find them by canoe, but I want to pinpoint them on a map. Anyone that can provide a grid reference wins a prize. A Google Earth .kmz file will do too. Are they north of Ranger Point? In or out of the Obabika River PP? |

curly, Kokomis-shomis, aka Grandmother and Grandfather Rocks, on Obabika Lake are just north of Ranger Point on the east shore. If you look at a topo map and find Ranger Point there is a small bay along the east shore to the north, at the end of that bat is Kokomis-shomis. They are about 200 mt. north of Ranger point on the east shore. No exact coordinates though. They are just north and east of Blueberry Island which is across from Ranger Point. Bill

Brian, you and I must be working off of different maps, or different ways of getting a GR. Using Hillbilly's description, and assuming that the rocks are in the back end of the little bay 200 m north of Ranger Pt, the GR would be: 552164 |

Curly: the Rocks are not down in the Bay but at the North end of the Bay.One of Hillbilly's pictures is taken from Ranger Point and you would not see them if they were down in the Bay.So follow the bay around on your map until you get to the next small point and that is where they are located.( I have a set of pictures just like Hillbilly's) So use those numbers in your submission and I will try to provide GPS readings on my return the week of Feb 25th. Then you can compare those with your submission and correct your submission if necessary.
