Can anyone tell me what kind of shape the fire tower at Maple Mountain is in? Is it possible to climb it? Also - how long does it take to clomb to the tower from the Tupper landing. |

It takes 2 to 2.5 hours to walk up from the lake. Someone else who has been there in the past year or two will have to tell you what kind of shape it is in. |

I was on a trip there in the spring. One of our crew climbed it and lives to tell the tale. He said that it swayed in the wind a bit? |

I think , the bolts are a bit loose on some of the cross bars, but if the cupola floor is still solid then it makes for a nice climb.

Thanks for the information and the photo. I am not planning to go until next Aug so I will check back in the early part of next summer to see if anyone has made the climb. |

I was a member of a small group of advanced level Boy Scouts that climbed the tower in August 2004. We started at Tupper Landing and completed the climb in just over an hour moving at a moderate pace. There is a sheer face of rock that is visible from quite a distance. This is climbed via a rusted steal ladder propped up against it at a fairly precarious angle. The tower itself is in remarkably good shape, the only possible concern is the wooden floor which creaks slightly.} |
