A route I did a few times in the 80s:

Gowganda - Obushkong- West Montreal - Tommy - Sisseney - Matachewan

I'm wondering how campsites are these days?

I am sure you don't mean the West Montreal, but the main Montreal channel. The West branch runs through Penassi.
