I'm thinking of trying to portage a canoe into Mcgiffin Lake this spring. Only have a couple days, and we like to explore off the beaten path for at least part of a day, even if that means a bit of hard work. Have been to McGiffin many many years ago (before the fire), and would like to see how it has changed. Is it possible to get in, or is it a bit too ambition of a plan. I was thinking of trying to get in from the south, paddling downstream on the north LE river to somewhere near where the fire burn first comes to the river edge, then heading to the lake with map and compass in hand. I suspect the former (longer) trail that started near the bridge has long overgrown by now. Anyone have any insight to share? |
