Have heard Chiniguchi has canoe congestion issues, we are starting at the Sportsman Lodge and up to Donald Creek to Maskininge Lake, up around Rice Lake to Edna Lake then to Matagamasi with option 1 back down Donald Lake or Option 2 around to Doon lake and back to the lodge. Questions, 1) how is the congestion in these areas? 2) Which route would be less congestion? 3) which route has better campsites and fishing?? thanks for any advise... Scott |

I don't think you'll see many canoes on your trip. Congestion, if happens, usually is confined to Matagamasi - Wolf - Chiniguchi lakes corridor, which is not in your plans. Of course all bigger lakes have some motor traffic, especially on week ends. I'm not sure I understand correctly: as I see it the only difference between routes 1 and 2 is that route 2 misses Scott, Gold and Donald lakes on the way back - but you'll be passing through Donald lake on your way to Maskinonge. Donald creek portages see very little traffic in my opinion, same goes for Doon portage. Don't know about fishing, Sportsmans lodge is a good place to ask for advice. |

Good and usually clean campsites all over the place, even on Kukagami. Some of the best on Donald and McCarthy bay. |

Many sites are equipped with thunderboxes. Some smaller and remote sites are not. |
