In the early stages of planning this trip and I'm looking for general feedback from those who have been, and more specifically, advice regarding water levels as well as an update as to the logging situation in that area. We're planning to head up from Wanapitei and explore our way north and back, taking 10-14 days to do so. |

It would help if you gave us your route. |

Sure, here's the idea: Matagamasi Wolf Dewdney Chiniguchi Adelaide Button Dougherty Frederick Mudding Backdoor head up river on the Sturgeon Option 1: Selkirk Creek Selkirk Lake Solace Option 2: continue past Twin Falls to Ghoul, then across to Selkirk & Solace Return the same way, possibly taking the Laura & Evelyn side back down toward Matamagasi I know Pilgrim creek gets low, but how is Selkirk? Also, is there now or has there been recent logging near the Twin Falls area? Thanks in advance!

Somebody can correct me if I'm wrong but I've never heard of a Selkirk Creek route so would assume it's impassible. |

By Selkirk Cr I guess you mean the southern route between Selkirk and Solace? There is water now everywhere. The logging, if there is currently any near the Sturgeon, will not be visible. |

Brian, then the 2 options would be identical: Kettle falls to Ghoul to Selkirk. If lkl is going to run Selkirk creek I'd love to hear about it. lkl, there's no or almost no portages between Kettle falls and Twin falls, but going upstream this part of the Sturgeon is not easy - plenty c1/c2 rapids there, probably more than a dozen. OK, thanks for the feedback. Paddling upstream doesn't sound like a good idea then. The trip is for late August, hence the concern about water levels. My kid mentioned the Selkirk option, but I couldn't find anything about it either. Probably a good reason for that! Back to the maps... |

Yes, in average late August not much chance of C2 in this area, but plenty of wading and dragging. |
