I finally got this trip report written up from July 2014. It was a 3 day trip into Wolf Lake starting from the public launch on Matagamasi Lake. We had beautiful weather and the wind was really nice to us.

Thanks rwaywell for the good blog and the great pictures. I was thinking about a very similar trip but in a kayak. Would you recommend it? |

Richtheo - Kayak wouldn't be too bad for the 'there and back' style trip that we did. There is only the one portage on the way from Matagamasi up to Wolf Lake. I think if you were trying to do a loop, then the portages would get to be a pain with the kayak.

I'd insist there's 2 portages from Matagamasi to Wolf. First of them is sometimes runnable, but not in average July or August water levels, and tracking it is no fun. |
