Just a quick sanity check here. Does the following trip look reasonable? Day 1 - Florence Day 2 - Florence Day 3 - Lewbert Day 4 - Chapin Day 5 - Hortense Day 6 - Wakimika Day 7 - Diamond Day 8 - Out at Ferguson |

It looks great! Wanted to do it last year, but was distracted by the birth of my son . |

Yellow canoe: The trip looks doable. I presume you are flying into Florence? Travel as light as possible. You are going to be doing a lot of uphill portaging from Ames into Lewbert, then Hobart across to Wakimika is a long and strenuous section as well. If you decide to do this trip, would you please let the forum know how the route is. It has been some time since these portages were cleared.

you can get from Wakimaka to Ferguson Bay in a day easily if you leave in good time. You have lots of time. But man, that is a grueling route. Like Ed says, tough portaging. more time in the forest than on the water. Going up through Duff Lake is a great route, just throwing that out there. I have gone both ways in both directions. The route you have chosen has an austere beauty that expresses the greater power of Temagami. There is just something about the air up there. And the solitude. Have a great time, man. |
