Going out for just a few days. May want to come back via Cooper, Glasford, Maxim etc. And or through Sunrise lake. Any info on portage conditions? |

Just back from this trip... From the south end of Rabbit, down the Matabitchuan River to Fourbass Lake, and return through Cooper, etc. Water levels are very low, so waded the canoe through all the rock gardens of the Matabitchuan. Fourbass is a very pretty lake, and surprisingly quiet despite the road access to both ends. Portage into Cooper is very rough, hard to see b/c of ingrown brush and not much traffic. The rest of the portages were OK, with just a few large trees that we were able to get over. Very strong South/Southwest winds were the most difficult part of the trip...had to get an early start to avoid the worst of the wind. |

Were the water levels low everywhere or just on the Matabit? |

Low water levels everywhere. Had to walk the canoe through the creeks north of Rabbit.

Also all the skinny waters along the route Cooper to Ross were very low. |
