Anyone heard anything about the road conditions on the Gamble Lake Road this year?

Nothing, but wouldn't be surprised if the same problem as last year occurs at the Elissa Creek culvert near Gamble Lake.

I drove down toward Gamble Lake today and the road is washed out at the same spot as last year. So close to the lake and yet so far.

Were there many blowdowns on the road?

Hi all - any updates on this area/road? Called the park office today, but they're not aware of the issue.

I called the park office and apparently are in the process of getting estimate for fixing it. They don't look optimistic on it being fixed quickly.

For anyone who has not been to the flooded location, you can park beside the road and portage to Gamble Lake.

The creek culvert is 340 metres from the landing on Gamble. You can also paddle down the creek to Elissa Lake.

We have been down to the creek and its starting to flow a little slower then it was. Not sure I would want to cross the creek though yet. Have you paddled down that creek before? And one more question, how is paddling back up the creek to the road?

I paddled down the creek one spring and it would be do-able coming back. But that was then, not this year.

There is still the portage to the Gamble landing and crossing the creek could always be done by canoe.

Temagami page of Ontario parks reservation system (https://reservations.ontarioparks.com/backcountry/ Home.aspx) lists Elissa problem and suggests Weedend lake portage as an alternative. Of course if you go south it will add 3 portages to your route before Gamble. But you'll profit Elizabeth falls.

Crossing to Gamble lake by road is still impossible. I would like to be able to put in on Chance and shorten up a trip for a weekend. Getting older makes us slower. Going to contact Kevin Pinkerton about this again and see if there is any plans to fix this in the near future.
