We plan to be on Obabika and Kokoko during the first 2 weeks of August. We have a 5 and a 2-year old. It helps greatly when the kids have a nice "beach" to play in when we're on a site. Do you know of any such sites on Obabika and Kokoko? If not, are there such sites on other central lakes, easily accessible (ie no portages)? Thanks in advance. |

The pines site at the beginning of the Old Growth Trails has a beach for the kids, not sure about Kokoko. Bill |

There are no beaches on Kokoko Bay or Lake that I am aware of. The best beach in the area is Sandy Inlet on Fergusson Bay, although it will likely by busy. There are also two popular camping beaches in the vicinity of Witch's Bay, just north of the 'hub' on Lake Temagami. These are popular houseboat destinations but are sometimes empty. Half way down the northern half of Obabika on the east side is the enormous 'beach site', but it is a pebble beach. |
