Hello Folks: I'm wondering if anyone has some recent experience this year with the water levels from Chris Willis Lake to Hobart in the Tegami area. Everything I've read indicates that this route can be very nice, but difficult (to impossible) at the end if water levels are too low. Any input from all you wise sages? Thanks in advance, Dan Pronovost

Not so well used, so I hope you get an answer as I, too, am wondering. |

I have never went that way. I always do the Suckergut to Frank Falls and then portage. Bill |

Dan I went that way in late August '99, and the creek was way too shallow to paddle. We thought we could just wade and drag the canoe, but the bottom is loon s__t, and I went in up to my waist in it! We ended up lining the canoe empty, and walking through the alders along shore for about an hour.......not fun! I was up on Temagami last week, and the water levels seemed fairly "normal" for this time of year, given all the rain we've had. Personnally, I wouldn't chance it unless you're up for the challenge! |

Thanks for feedback folks! I think we'll probably be safe and go the long way round (especially given the forecast this weekend, when we'll be doing it). Dan Pronovost |
