I am planning a spring trip to Temagami and want to be there before the black flies, but when it isn't too cold. Any suggestions? I have noticed the lake usually goes out in late April or early May, so I am thinking maybe the week of May 8-15. |

You could likely push your trip back a week and be safe, depends on the year though. |

Before June I would say. A couple years ago I did the first week of May. Still plenty of snow around. Cold pounding rain. One minor round of hypothermia. |

A general rule of thumb is the long weekend marks fly season, give or take, God willing, or not. |
