The Temagami Area Canoed Waters Planning Map shows many of the campsites on Lake Temagami. Available from MEC and most outdoor stores. You might also look at: http://www.ottertooth.com/Temagami/Wilson/books.ht m There are other kayak routes described in the book as well. Lake Temagami has many island cottages and boat traffic that you should be aware of. Go to:http://www.ottertooth.com/Temagami/Canoeing/solitu de.htm If you are not looking for complete solitude, it is still a great place to paddle. |

Its an easy, fun trip. However, the area between the south end of Temagami Island and Highrock Island can be one of the roughest parts of the Lake. A lot of the children's camps use this route. Be sure to climb Highrock and see if you can find the pictographs in Portage Bay.
