Hi everyone. New to this forum. Going out on my groups first Temagami trip next week. We have done several Algonquin trips and last year we stayed in the states (for once) and went to the Adirondacks. No better place in the world to Canoe then Canada in my (our) opinion. You Canadians are so lucky. Anyway we were consider a 6-7 day trip down the North Branch of Lady E. I hear it's breathtaking but some portages are insanely bad. :D We are trying to avoid a LOT of Lake travel so we settled on this area. Any tips would be greatly appreciated.

ohioan, You have not told us where your access point is going to be. If your access point is Beauty Lake you will find the Lady Evelyn could be shallow in spots at least untill you get to Gamble Lake.If your access point is Mowat Landing and you are going to Travel Lady Evelyn Lake and Sucker Gut and then the North Channel andSouth Channel you will find the North Channel shallow in spots and some rock hoppingbefore youget to the South Channel. Give us more info on your planned trip for more accurate info. Bill |

Ohioan: Go to: http://www.ottertooth.com/Temagami/Wilson/sneak.ht m for details on Hap Wilsons new route guide which describes the trip you are thinking about. You can probably get it in the US from Amazon. The portages are not that bad and are well described in the book. |
