Hello All - I've got a canoe trip planned from Wanapitei to Temagami and back again. Along the way, it would be nice to take a rest day and go for a day hike. Are there any memorable day hikes in the area? The route we are travelling is: - Matagamasi - Chiniguchi - Maskinonge - Surgeon River - Wawiashkashi - Manatou - Turtleshell - Gull On the way back we are heading via Obabika and Wiwiagama (and possilbly Murray and Washigami too). I've attached a map that will give you a rough idea. Any suggestions? Ken.

Ken, Check out the Wakimika Triangle http://www.ottertooth.com/Temagami/Sites/waki-tri. htm There are several well marked loops through the forest, all old growth. It is markedly different from the usual forest ecosystems you will find on most of your trip. Regards, Bill |

You said you are starting at Wanapitei. Do you mean Wanapitei Lake? If so, where are you parking? I ask because if you are not a property owner, then there is no parking there. |
