Hi,
I'm looking to get into the Solace area from Paul Lake. I will be coming up the Gervais Rd to get access to Paul.
Is there a road to Paul Lake off of Gervais or are my options to paddle down the Sturgeon or find the portage off the Gervais Rd?
Any help would be appreciated.

You have to put in at the Upper Sturgeon Access Point (at the top of the Gervais Road) and paddle downstream. There is no road to Paul. |

Anyone know where the Stewart-Paul portage is from Gervais Rd? Is that easier than paddling down or is the River my best option?
Any help would be appreciated.

There is no Stewart-Paul portage. There is a portage between Stewart and the Sturgeon River. It hits the river between Paul Lake and the landing. If you are only going downstream from the Gervais Landing then it is far easier to do the river. If you are going upstream, if the water is low, it is still easier to do the river. If the water is high, then I recommend the Stewart portage to the road.

Thanks for the information Brian. We would do it downstream and upstream. I plan on being there in May, so I'll just have to wait to see what the water looks like.
That's the portage I was referring to...Stewart to the Sturgeon makes more sense than Paul. I'll have to look again because I didn't notice it last time I was through that area.
