Hello All, Rescheduled my original Twinkle Lake trip to early July. Here's what I'm looking at. We want to paddle/portage about 5-6 hours a day. My two sons are joining me, which means a bigger load for me. Look reasonable? Day 1: Twinkle by noon / Camp half-way between Pinetorch/Twinkle Day 2: Lewbert Lake Day 3: Florence Lake Day 4: Florence Lake Day 5: BlueSucker Day 6: Solace Day 7: Solace Day 8: Pilgrim Day 9: Talking Falls Day 10: Seagrim Day 11: Takeout at Twinkle Thanks again, Paul |

Yellowcanoe; I am not sure what you are doing. On Day 6 you go into Solace and stay there. Then on Day 8 you go back into Pilgrim. Then on Day 9 you leave Pilgrim and go to Talking Falls? Is that correct? I think you need more time to get to Lewbert on Day 2.That could be a long day for you.But you have and extra day on Florence ... so that might be your catch up day.

That's correct, ed. Looks like I'll have to add an extra day. Thanks. |

What type of vehicle are you driving in to Twinkle? We have been having a discussion about the road being not suitable for cars this spring.

I recall there was one of them in there last year. Maybe the driver will respond. The discussion was not available on ottertooth. |

Hey ed - bob mentioned you were through there this year. What were you driving, and did you make it? |

Subaru Outback AWD is pretty good choice, bring a good carjack and rope. It gets slow for the last 17 km. It can get soft in heavy rain, also some climbs and equal descents, expext hard braking and 2 km of brush scratch. It is a little like whitewater, pick a line and go for it! Bottom line is I would not take my wife's Focus up there. |

So...the problem with getting such great feedback is that it opens the doors to other alternatives. Can I get your feedback on this itinerary (which removes Talking Falls ... which kills me? All I can promise in return are some great photos. Again, the parameters are 6-7 hours paddling/portaging/breaks. Day 1: Drive up / Temagami Day 2: Fly-In / Pinetorch Day 3: Beaver Day 4: Lewbert Day 5: Florence Day 6: Florence Day 7: Bluesucker Day 8: Pilgrim Day 9: Solace Day 10: Solace Day 11: Sturgeon/Selkirk Day 12: Kettle Day 13: Stouffer Day 14: Dougherty Day 15: Dougherty / Fly-out /Drive Back |

kind of a snail pace though it seems to be evenly distributed. Most days would just be a couple of hour travel with Florence to Bluesucker and Solace to Sturgeon and Sturgeon to Kettle being half days.

Good to hear, alscool. In the past, I tended to overdue things. I guess I've switched to the other extreme. The pace, I hope, would also help me mitigate any issues. I also have along with me two boys, which makes my own load a little heavier. |

One other thing (maybe). I hear that Twinkle/Pinetorch/Beaver/Lewbert/Florence is particularly hellish. Is this still the case? Any comments on this? |

Hellish? no, I would describe it as developing with periods of steepness and a smidgen of low water. |
