I know this question is asked every year. Is anyone aware whether the Gamble Lake access is viable (with a van) this year, particularly at the South Lady Evelyn bridge bridge, which Doublebend provides directions to (http://www.ottertooth.com/discus/messages/3/7087.h tml)? Based on his directions, the bridge appears to be located at these co-ordinates: N47 19.231 W80 28.267 Thanks (Message edited by yellowcanoe on June 13, 2011) |

Brian, I'm surprised I haven't seen this map until now. Thank you. Do you know whether the "put-in road" between Chance and Gamble, currently in construction, is accessible today? If so, do you think it's a long day's paddle from Florence to Chance? Thanks, |

You could do that in a day Yellowcanoe. I have gone from Gamble to Duff in a day with time to spare and that was upstream on the South Lady Evelyn in early spring. |

I do not know the current situation on the put-in side-road, but even without it you will have no problem getting to water somewhere there. |

We were just there last month and put in at the gamble Lake campground. It was definitely traversible with a van. We got in late at night; so we didn't take the time to look into the Chance lake put in. If you phoned the MNR at Finlayson PP they would probably have more info. |

Simon, did you happen to go into Sunnywater or Trethewey? I am interested in the condition of the portages along those routes. |

Hi Brian, no we didn't. We were on the laziest of canoe trips I've taken in some time. We spent a day playing in the whitewater (Nice high volume/big waves due to our early trip May 14-16) of the LE river all the way down to Shangri La. The next day was spent exploring/ fishing/ relaxing at Shangri La. The last day was supposed to be hard work paddling back upstream, but we met a couple power boats at the junction with the SLE that towed us all the way back to Gamble! |
